AWS Cloud Institute 2025

Class is in Session

After lots of research to find a good starting point to learn, practice, and prepare myself for a career where I could transfer my skills and harvest in a new path I bumped into the Cloud Institute.

Being 2025 the second year since AWS launched the program I thought that maybe it would be a great starting point to connect with AWS employees, ask questions, and learn the content that was tailored by the company for positions that are in demand.

My logic was obvious. If AWS would go through the trouble of creating an entire institute, tailoring a curriculum, and putting together an expert team to deliver, prepare, and support a body of students, then why should I be concerned about employment?

I also extend further my logic to add to the fact that usually, traditional institutions are the ones to prepare the workforce, and if AWS came forth and put up their own program in place, that tells me that they would rather train their own workforce (faster) than wait for a traditional University to deliver educational programs that match with what large companies really need.

The Collapse of Traditional Educational Institutions

I am a big believer in education, but unfortunately, the path that I tried to follow was never privileged to my circumstances.

I tried to return to a traditional University in 2023 after I hit a difficult spot in my business.

I was thrilled to be back, and sharing my journey as a non-traditional student, but the driving back and forth (40 minutes each way), silly homework assignments to keep students busy and to help pass time, classes only available during business hours, office hours that never felt productive.

While I was trying to put out my best effort while juggling adult life it became clear that not only the educational structure was archaic but also that it was not designed for an adult.

I felt my age there.

Picking the Path of Least Resition

After many years of trying to educate myself, I feel grateful to live in a time where education is now transitioning into a more fluid and flexible structure. Still, programs like AWS Cloud Institute can be out of reach, financially speaking, to a lot of people, and I hope that will change in the future.

For now, I am grateful to be part of this second cohort and redesign a new path and career that I know will be very fulfilling.
